Ok, I am going to be buying this car tomorrow MOST LIKELY. I really would like to get some feedback on its value though...

Specs: 98' deep blue SE, 5speed, 58,800 miles, clean title, has null factory options. Its a basic SE package, no leather, no bose, no alarm...etc However I have a system already for it so thats ok.

Good: car drives absolutely perfect, and has an perfect interior (9.9/10). Mechanically its in great shape, only needing an up and coming 60k service and some new tires.

Bad: the outside is pretty nasty. THere is NO rust anywhere i could find, however there are several scratches in the paint. A dented hood about 2" sq., cracked fog light and cracked taillight (priced both to be about $75 on ebay for both). Comes with no maintenance records.

Ive really been searching a little while to find a nice 5speed max. I love the fact that its a 98, cause the bumper, lights, steering wheel, cup holder and all that jolly stuff. However the outside just really leaves me uneasy.

The guy is askin $6700obo, and he basically wont go lower than $6400. "fair" condition from http://www.kbb.com is $7200, "good" condition is $8,050 and "excellent" is over $8300. The car, to be in great shape, would need the maintenance (which i dont count), the fog light, taillight replaced and a sand/paint (one coat would be fine cause its just a bunch of scratches) along with a new hood. FOr someone who didnt really care about paint it would be a perfect car. THe body is perfectly straight and has no accidents, it was just driven in bad conditions and not "protected" if you will. Im a great father and would love to have it, i just dont want to get taken. So what is ya'alls honest opinion on the cars value?

Thanks a bunch!

It really sounds liek a fair price to me.Low miles not too old, ,..

Check under the oil filler cap to see if its clean inside, about teh only way those engines ever go is lack of oil changes.

The cosmetic flaws are a downer and probably not cheap to fix so you would likely live with them, keep that in mind.New hoods are not too cheap and used ones are always a hassle to find since most junked cars have beat up hoods to begin with.

But if teh onterior is as good as you say and it looks clean inside the oil filler cap.

I'd buy it for that price, or maybe use the cosmetics to hagle down a little more. but it wouldnt need to come down much.

sounds good. Similar to what a paid for mine with a few more miles last year. Those little cosmetic things can be easily fixed concidering what you are getting it for. I have a really scratched front bumper, I don't really pay attentionto it.
