Value of 240sx with ls1

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

Does anyone have an idea of what a well built 240sx with an LS1 would be?

Like any modified car... it'll depend on the chassis condition (mileage age, etc) - the motor and modifications themselves as well as how well they are and how complete the car is.Turn key LS1 FD RX7s go for 20k+I'd assume an LS1 powered S14 would be in the 14-18k range.

I've gotten two offers of $20k for mine. Just have to find the right person.

That's awesome. I have a friend with a shop who does a lot of engine swaps and builds hot rods as a job. He wants to do mine to get into this type of swap. He wants to do it well and make it nice to show what he can do. He is talking about the LS1 with a new cam and possibly a pro charger (Lots of HP). Probably do a paint job, and maybe an s15 conversion. I have a 95 and like the current look, but I really like the s15 conversion, plus if he does the pro charger, it will need a new hood anyways. Hopefully that whole thing will make it fairly valuable. Either that, or just do the basic swap and a sharp paint job.

Yeah I was trying to be subtle. Communication nuances don't work so well over the intrawebnettube.

If you can get 20k for this swap, you can cerainly make money off of it. I see a lot of modified cars on ebay with people saying they put a lot more money into it than they are asking. I suppose it depends on how much you do. People seem more willing to pay for the raw power, than all the other stuff.

you cannot make money modifying new cars.

chris owns a kouki. a clean 5 speed kouki is 8-10k. a lsx swap is gonna be 8-10k. and thats a bone stock car, and bone stock lsx.

see what im getting at?

it is not an investment, dont plan on making money. ive had some large offers for my car but im not ready to sell it.

If someone offers me 20k for my car when I'm done, I'll make about 4k (My car will be a Kouki-front end car as well- just isn't as of current).I have it all budgeted out with an additional 2k for stupid **** that you can't budget.HOWEVER, This includes all the work being done by myself. If I'd have someone ELSE do it ... I'd be lucky if I even broke even.

I guess I am looking at it from the perspective that I already have my 240sx paid off, since I have had it for 10 yrs, and will only have the cost of the parts for the swap.

You can make money modifying modern cars.... if you do ALL the work yourself and get really good deals on parts, and can fabricate, weld, machine ... ... ...

A stock LSX swap is not 8-10K my modded LS1 w/ heads, cam, intake only ran me 8K.

If someone offered me 20K for my car I would seriously consider it because of the knowledge of the setups and swap. I could make a real beast of a 240 with about the same I put in this one. A lot of trial an error.

If I re did it all. Id get a blown motor for sensors and accessories. Then buy a LS2 built short block for 3500 and a T56 for 1000-2000, Heads used for 600-1000, push rods 170, a cam for 200-300 and some injectors and rails for 400.

Thats an easy 450-500 whp setup all motor that will eat nitrous up.

Blown,I have the exact same car as you. I am about to start the LS1 swap (working on my motor). I am probably going to add a cam and possibly a pro-charger. Would be some serious HP. Do you mind if I ask you a few questions here and there regarding the swap?
