I have what is probably a silly question:What is the difference between teh Valet and "regular" keys? I used to own an Acura, and the only difference was the valet key was thicker.

I now own an I35 and was not given a Valet key. Can I get one made from the regular key?

The valet key is maroon-ish in color and it will not unlock the trunk or the inside passage to the trunk. From what I've heard, it shuts the car off after so many miles of driving, so you're not supposed to use it as a main key. I heard a story once of a 6th gen maxima driver getting his car stolen at gunpoint, and he gave the theif the valet key. Well he didn't get very far because the car locked up on him a little ways down the road and was later recovered.

The valet key doesn't unlock the trunk, glovebox, or inside acess to the trunk. My maxima was driven from San Jose, Ca. to Olympia, Wa. using the valet key. On a 5th gen, there is no mileage restriction.
