I just got my new Coupe (HURRAY!! LOVE IT), but I have a question about the keys (or lack there of). In my past cars (all Mazdas) I was always given a FLAT valet key that I could keep in my walet in case I lost my keys. But Nissan didn't give that, just the two Inteligent Keys. I don't want to remove one of the keys from the Inteligent Keys as my spare (defeats the purpose and it's not flat anyway so won't fit in my wallet), does anyone know if I can get a key made that's flat? Has anyone done this? Am I the only one that misses a true valet key so you don't have to give all of your keys when you have someone park your car in a garage or restaurant? Thoughts?

If you look on the back of your remote, there's a little lever you push. Then you pull the bottom end and that will release the valet key. It's there, you just have to find it

I think I understand what your question is. Unfortunately, if you want to give your key to a valet, you have to give your actual KEY FOB, this is because our cars are equipped with push button start, and can't be started without the actual intelligent key.

As far as making a flat key, u can just take out your physical key from the intelligent key fob and get it copied somewhere that makes those flat plastic keys. (But I don't think it will do you any good)

I hope this helps.

I guess I read wrong. So you know about the key within the FOB, right? Then just have a duplicate made from it.

IMHO,

Get to restaurant leave car running let valet park and turn off when it's time to get car give valet the keys so they can turn it on, you won't be w/o your keys for more than a few mins

Ok so you can lock your glove compartment and fold down seats with the key INSIDE of the intelligent key to prevent the Valet from getting inside.

But is anyone concerned about the intelligent key not having a loop through it so they could hang it up or something? They COULD lose it. Am I alone on that one or am I just thinking too hard about it?

I added a key ring to the remote and then attached it to my NISMO lanyard

I'm talking about when you remove the key inside. There is nothing left to attach anything to.

I've thought about that too before, but not in this situation, you make a VERY good point....

Don't use valet - park it yourself.

I've never heard/seen of a Flat Valet Key. My '02 Acura RSX included one but the only difference was that it's painted GREY.

I would just avoid using Valet or keep your Valuables with you instead of leaving it in the Glove Box. BTW, congrats on the new Coupe!

Thanks guys for all the comments. I was having a major brain cramp when I wrote this. After I thought about it for a minute aftwards I realized that a copied key would do me no good if I lost my Inteligent Key fob. It would allow me to get INTO the car but not start it of course. So that leaves me with the paranoia of what happens if I'm out somewhere and I lose my fob??? I'd be stranded. In the past I always had a spare key in my wallet and it saved me once or twice over the years. Oh well, I guess I'll have to be careful and hope for the best. Thanks for all your answers to my stupid question (and thanks for not making me feel like a fool).
