I'm still learning about the G35 so bear with me if I overlook something simple.

This morning the car wouldn't crank for my wife. This was the first time she tried to use the car so I figured it was probably related to her key. After going through the owner's manual, I realize her key is the valet key.

Shouldn't the valet key start the car?

What am I missing here?

Thanks in advance!

Bob

It should. You might check with the dealer to confirm the key is programmed for the car correctly though.

The only thing the valet key doesn't allow is opening the glove box.

First time in Forum... The valet Key is yours to keep when giving your car to a Valet. Remove it from the remote and hand remote to the attendant. The Key can be used to start the car by plugging it into the dash near your left knee. I have not done it yet since I've had no need so far, but that is what the delivery person at my dealership tells me.

What you should do to start the car is, simply have the key on your person, put your foot on the brake and press the start button. All G35 owners probably know this.

The question I just realized was not asked is what year is your G35 and is it a sedan or coupe? That is "key" to know, pardon the pun.

If it's an '07, which is all I know, the metal key should only be used if your remote battery has died. If it has you can put the metal key in the dash and press the start button. The key is intended only for locking your pass through into the truck and locking the glove box and so the truck release is disengaged and secured from the valet opening it.

I hope that helps.
