I bought a V1 as I was getting this Q ready to roll back in 2002.

Besides saving me from a few tickets over the years, this piece of electronics turned out to be a good investment!

Back in 2002 I paid the same $399 that these sell for today, and nearly 13 years later I sold it for $365 on eBay! There aren't many 13 year old pieces of electronics that hold their value like that.

I ordered it's replacement from V1 today.

As a side note, they have "refurbished" units that are 10% off. Same warranty, same version as the new ones... so I bought one of those for $359 and an extra concealed display module to use either in my truck or when traveling. It was also discounted as a refurbished unit for $35 instead of $39.

Same here-I was on the many month long initial waiting list way back when they were first introduced, and have sold and repurchased the unit every time they introduced an upgrade- always getting top dollar for my used ones- a quality product for sure! Sadly,I no longer use it as with all the newer cars out on the roads today using both laser and radar based cruise control and blindspot monitoring systems, the amount of "false alarms" now vastly outnumber true police speed enforcement use,at least here in the Baltimore/Washington metro area.Sad.

The latest version is supposed to have a way to block a lot of the false alarms from other cars lane departure warnings... we'll see how well it works. With my old one, a laser alert meant looking for the oncoming Infiniti more often than not.

Sadly, many automakers have joined Infiniti with polluting the air with laser and radar waves by their choosing to use identical wavelengths as what law enforcement uses- a decade ago,it was just Infiniti spewing laser signals- now many other manufacturers are spewing K and Ka band radar signals causing havoc for radar detector users- last I spoke with Valentine, there was no real answer to be able to avoid these "false" alerts without compromising protection from real speed measuring usage by police.

I got the new one today. We'll see how it performs. What I'm seeing on another forum says that the latest software version eliminates most of these false alarms, so we'll see.

Well... I drove around with it for about 100 miles today. It's definitely more sensitive than my old one, but not so annoying as to be not use-able. Maybe we don't have enough newer cars with lane departure warning in my area, but it doesn't seem that bad.

The only annoying part for me won't be a problem in your car. That would be my 5 year old sitting in the back giving me a play-by-play of which way the arrows are pointing, what the number says on the display, and asking things like "what would happen if there were 4 police cars, one in front, one behind us, and one on either side???" :D

Does the laser alarm still get triggered by every passing Infiniti and other cars with laser cruise control?
