Any other G owners own the Valentine 1? Where did you end up mounting it on the windshield? What about hard-wiring the power? Any tricks there?

I'm super pumped. I hate driving around all nervous that a cop is going to see a bright, red, G35 coupe in the left lane and get antsy.

I am on my 2nd Valentine (1st was stolen) and I have mine mounted on the windshield just below the rearview mirror with the suction mount it came with. I have a stealth cord plugged into the power from the back of the mirror so there are no wires and very clean looking.

You can get a stealth cord at stealthcords.com I believe. This is an easier way to do it without having to mess with the hardwire if you don't want to.

Best advice I can give you is DO NOT leave that thing in the window. ALWAYS lock it up if you are not in the car and it is not in the garage. The one time I was in a hurry and did not lock it up BAM! A baseball bat to the driver's window and bye bye V1.

Enjoy it, no matter what anyone says it really is the best radar on the market and will pay for itself a million times over.

Please refer to this post. I must say again I RECOMMEND the rear view mirror mount. With this it does not mount to the windshield. It mounts on the rearview mirror neck and sits flush just under the rearview mirror. So you cant get stopped for it mounted to the windshield with suction cups.. I hope this helps, and please read through the entire post. I love my V-1 with this mount and I would never sell it. Wes

A little update: The V1 saved me about $200 today. 85 in a 65. V1 freaked out long before I could even see the state trooper sitting on the side of the road. Cruised by him at 60mph. :

Good times.

Is it possible to install this in to the dash or a hidden place so it is in your car and cant just be pulled out or is not just hanging there. I want to put it in a discrete place.

I think Escort makes a model that does this.

However there are some who have taken apart various radar detectors and then placed the indicator lights into various places. For example on another forum I have frequented for my 300 m one owner took apart a radar detector and placed the lights inside the gauge cluster.

Once you get the lights where you want them, often it is fairly easy to upgrade the second time. The indicator lights and controls on many units are plugged in and a simply set of opto-isolators would allow you to connect it up fairly easily.
