I have blacktop sr20det with front mount intercooler, and an old greddy type s bov i got used from a friend.

i run my bov from the intake manifold, and every so often (it normally happens when i’m downshifting) the car dies out on me, while moving! I was told it’s common since i’m not recirculating my bov and just venting it to the air. I was also told it’s an easy fix is to just recirculate it.. I don’t wanna do that.

when i rev my engine while just idling, and the bov blows off, the car either almost dies, or dies out. possible vacuum leak? intercooler is brand new, so bov maybe?

my friend told me i should plumb vacuum off of the brake booster vacuum. I was told it will reduce or eliminate the idle problem, and the blow off would sound louder and stronger.

but, i know that the whole purpose of the brake booster is to have some reserve air to use if your car dies out; i.e. so you can still brake while the engine is off. if i blow off this air, and my car dies out, you'd kinda be screwed. I want thoughts about this.

There's nothing you can do about the dieing when the valve vents to atmo. It's a normal occurance for atmo vents and you'll just have to learn to accomodate/accept it.

No matter where you scavange your vac source, you'll still deal with the car bogging/dieing and the only way to remedy the problem would be to recirculate the blow off valve, or convert to a MAP sensor (requires new fuel management setup).

How tight is the adjuster screw on the top of the BOV ??? if its loose it will blow off really easy. you prolly just need to tighten it up and your good to go !!!
