Hey guys I just want to know if i'm correct or not.

I connected the internal wastegate from my SR t28 to my bov's vacuum line. Meaning i Tee'd it off from the bov vac line to the wastegate. Is that correct? or should the wastegate run off the boost from the turbo?

My old T25 had a vac outlet on the compressor outlet for the wastegate but my SR T25 didn't have it so i just used the bov vacuum line.

When i drive the car the boost gauge would read 6 psi and its the stock wastegate. Please let me know if thats right or not.

As long as your boost controller has a strait shot from your intake manifold or cold pipe right before your throttle body your fine. Your BOV is setup right.

I mean come on man, your car runs and boost fine right?

Wait wait wait...does the wastegate see vacuum or boost? I thought the nipple for the wastegate was connected by a short piece of hose to a nipple right at the compressor outlet. The BOV sees vacuum and the wastegate sees boost...right?

no its a straight shot from the wastegate to the controller then a line from the boost controller to the intake manifold has a t for the gauge

The wastegate can see vacuum, it just does nothing when that happens. It is positive pressure activated. Tial says to run your wastegate source line from a barb coming off your cold pipe for maximum accuracy. Your supposed to use a large(8mm vac line) for your wastegate. This however is not necessary, most people dont do that. A lot of people simply run it from their vacuum manifold, brake booster line, whatever. Works fine, no problems.

hey 480 now is it bad that i dont have that straight line coming off my the manifold and that there is a t for the gauge in there. and u said about being right before the throttle body i beleive its at the back of the intake manifold cuz there was a nip there about the same size

Ok, thanks 480, I'll just run it from the barb i have right after my turbo, that keeps down the lines running everywhere.

kpod...all of the things behind the manifold are vacuum lines, so if you are looking for vacuum those are fine.

So to sum it up, it's ok if I have it set up like FPR and BOV see vacuum, and wastegate and boost gauge see boost.

If your running an external wastegate you might notice some spiking because of an undersized vac line. If your running an internal gate thats fine. The T's work fine, no problems. Look bad, work well.

Thats right chris.

I started questioning my setup because i read this from Garrett's website.

Internal Wastegates are built into the turbine housing and consist of a “flapper” valve, crank arm, rod end, and pneumatic actuator. It is important to connect this actuator only to boost pressure; i.e. it is not designed to handle vacuum and as such should not be referenced to an intake manifold.

I'm taking the wastegate line off of the BOV vac line and moving it to the fpr line. I'm doing this because i cannot put a fitting on the compressor or the hotpipe. That should be ok right?

Well, most people do just use their compressor housings. However its been done for years by using the vac manifold to with no ill effects as far as i know.

Idk if tial says that though you might want to move it. Dont you have the boost elbow on your t2 turbo?

No your idea would still make it so that your wastegate gets vac from the intake manifold

yea i have a boost elbow connecting my turbo to my hot pipe. should i make the nipple there? because i don't want to damage the turbo itself.

Err, boost elbow on your compressor housing is what i meant. A little 90 degree fitting, or a strait barb that comes out of your comp housing.

Your not going to damage your turbo by having your WG setup the way it is. I guess since Tial says not to there might be a chance that you can damage the wastegate itself, or possibly it would just be a vacuum leak in your system having it hooked up that way i dont know.
