I'm dropping a redtop in a 93 Nissan pickup and am having an issue with vacuum. With all of the vacuum lines connected the truck will turn over and fire but will not start. After which I get a crackling sound from the valve cover. If I disconnect this vacuum line:the truck will idle for about 30 seconds and then die. It also dies immediately if I touch the gas.

could be your fuel pump. does it turn on when your car is on the on position??? it can also be the maf sensor. Thats what the problem was on my sr swap. i had a j4 ecu, and it wouldnt take the kae maf. so i had to get a s13 maf and rewire my fuel pump. well i had the shop do it but yeah thats what was done. my car started fine but when i layed a foot on the gas it would bog out and die.

It's getting plenty of fuel and I tried running it with the MAF sensor unplugged with the same results..

That vac line connects to the PCV valve which you see on the valve cover. You definitely want that connected.

If you have fuel and spark... I would make sure there is ZERO vac leak.

BTW, how are you checking for spark?

OK, I'm an idiot. I had the fuel lines reversed. I assumed that since I could see fuel on the spark plugs that I had the fuel system correct.
