viewed vacuum line hookups for 1985 nissan 720, from fastboatman, but my question is that there are 3 or 4 lines that have restrictors inside the line, i noticed this years ago and a red painted line was around the tube denoting this, and wondered if these restricted lines would cause a difference without them.

I don't know, had no Idea they had restrictors. I figured they were just line of a certain diameter.

My guess is a previous owner put restrictors in them. There shouldn't be any on a stock setup

Well, I did find them in my vac lines when I replaced mine. I never documented where they are. Since I was trying to keep things original way back then, I did put them back into the new vac lines. They are small brass pieces within the vac line and they would not be one of my concerns in any case. I'm sure they do something, but in the grand scheme of things, they certainly wouldn't cause poor performance. I'm pretty sure the FSM can show us where they live if anyone is THAT worried about them.

i found the page in the factory manual which is ef-ec 56, i can scan the page for you, my guesstamation is something to do with advance on the distributor, in relation to vcv and tvv which senses vacuum above throttle and below throttle, these orifices are approx. .050, and were original from factory.

I replaced just about every hose yesterday. There was one very short hose, only 2" long, that had a yellow line painted around it. I felt a lump, but I assumed someone had jammed a BB inside. I peeked into the hose and saw light so I continued on. I think that hose was over on the passenger side of the carb.
This morning I found the little brass restrictor inside. Although it's probably not a life-or-death situation, I'd still like to know where it came from. If anyone can post some info that would be great!

EDIT: After reading this thread I looked thru the rest of the old lines. I found two more with restrictors. One with a gray paint stripe, and another yellow-striped one.

Those are restructure and are factory. I replaced mine when I installed all new vacuum lines. I doubt that it'll make a big difference either way.
