Its connected to the EGR/BPT (removed) and goes to the vacuum lines near the throttlebody, also one of them goes to a nipple on the throttle body, presumably to get the vacuum.

but the lines dont end up going anywhere, so could I just leave that solenoid plugged in, zip tied up, and remove the lines?

cycotron, it looks like a dohc intake in the picture, if so go here:

ka24de - zerothread?id=157751

if not, go here

ka24e - http://www.ka-t.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10789

Hope this helps...they are both about emissions removal...the kae thread has a great diagram that explains the various parts and what they do along with vacuum diagrams. (I'm a KAE owner.)See attached diagram.

I removed EVERY SINGLE solenoid back there. My car still runs like a champ. I don't have a check engine light, so I haven't bothered checking codes.
-That might work fine for an '89 but not for other models. To be safe, like PapaSmurf2k3said: Quote »keep everything electronics are attatched to back there.
-If the vacumme line has no where to go, just plug it.

Depending on what year you have i.e. >'96 you may need to replace the egr temperature sensor with a 10k ohm 1/4w resistor.

Oh, I didn't see where he told the year of his car. Also, the county where i lived at the time had no emissions regulations, so I wasn't worried about that either. Playing it safe is always nice.

well the emissions diy thread has broken pics.

I put the resistor on the temp sensor just for grins, it cost like a dollar for a pack of resistors.

i removed the solenoid because it wont be doing anything.

I didnt just cap the lines, because they werent going anywhere at all anymore. I removed that bracket, therefore no more lines to cap.

I'll reply to this and let you guys know what happened when I get my engine running (its still at the shop being built.)

The ONLY small size vaccuum line needed is for the fuel pressure regulator. IF you still have the secondary butterflies the SCV Actuator needs to be plugged in as well. Everything else that has a small vaccuum line attached to it can be trashed. The metal small vaccuum line group thingy can be trashed. The only vaccuum lines i have are for the FPR, idle air controller tube, crankcase/valve cover vents and brake booster of course. This is for a DOHC but the single cam has the same junk. So far there are no codes (doesn't seem right i'll check the ecu again now that i have more miles in its memory), no check engine light, and the engine runs well, good gas mileage. In reality it is a bad idea to remove emmisions if your state does testing, and there is no significant benefit from removing all of this stuff other than having a slightly cleaner looking engine bay.
