Howdy folks! Found a new vacuum leak today, I can't believe I missed it before. There's a small vacuum tube with no hose on it, and despite searching and searching for a decent diagram, I can't find anything that shows where it /should/ go! (I'd keep researching, but I don't even know what system this is part of to search.) If you look in this image, Image, it's the open tube JUST above the red arrow denoted as "3". The car runs when it's open without issue, (other than a gaping vacuum leak, of course) - but as soon as I plug it, the engine idle bogs way down and either dies or almost dies. So I'm guessing this has something to do with idle air, but I can't figure out where this SHOULD go.

Thanks for the help in advance!

That is apart of the hardline to the carbon canister.

The picture you supplied is from the coolant line bypass how to: http://z32.wikispaces.com/Coolant+Line+Bypass

Since its still drawing air through there id imagine the bypass wasn't done correctly or someone never put it back on, was your Z running like crap??? You dont need a carbon canister although its job is to soak up fuel fumes.

I dont get why the vacuum line diagram from the Z32 wiki shows that vacuum line coming from the balance tube straight to carbon canister vacuum pipe when they said in the bypass how to that the factory routing runs it through a hard line under plenum without mentioning that the diagram doesn't show its factory routing???

There's 2-3 carbon canister lines. The balance tube one does run straight to hard line that's under the intake piping. It doesn't connect to anything that's a part of the engine block like what's shown in the pic. The other lines run up and down the drivers side, under a bunch of things, mostly on hard lines. There shouldn't be anything attached to the engine block pertaining to the carbon cannister if I remember mine correctly.

But yea, its still worth checking out that you did your CC delete correctly.

Ahh, very possible I screwed up my carbon canister delete, I was more focused on the new intercoolers I was putting in at the time, and very well could have neglected something. Thanks for the advice, I'll re-read the delete writeup and find out what I should have done :)
