I was in the process of removing my fuel rail to pull my injectors for physical inspection because my car was not starting and when it did run before death it ran waaaayyyy rich. It felt like it was flooding and not firing on all cylinders. When I pulled up the fpr the vacuum hose on the backside of it was ripped. Could this be the main problem or just part. I also noticed that the injector seals looked really dry and cracked. If I replace the o-rings and vacuum line will I be OK or will I still need new injectors?

from my experiences with vacuum leaks, they screw up everything. sorry that doesnt help much, but finding a leak like that can be the cause. figure it as something that you found broken while trying to figure out what was wrong with your car. pointless post sorry!

I just havent had a whole lot of experience with import motors so I don't know how much of an effect a vacuum leak will have. I know on my old 350 in a blazer I used to have only had 1 vacuum line and that was to the carb so.... I think that it was probably the reason because the fuel pressure in the rail, I believe, is moderated by the vacuum which in turn would cause the car to run rich because of an increase in pressure and volume. Correct me if I'm wrong I am just making an educated guess. I will post later on tonight to tell if the problem is better.

Replaced the hose and started the car. It runs fine but does not idle correctly. When I release the throttle the tach dose a nosedive and the car will die if I don't keep the rpms up. Whats up now???!!! Also the motor cuts out under heavy acceleration. It feels similar to the top speed govenor. It did this before but now it is more frequent. It only does this above 3000 rpm. What is the problem now???!!! I am sick of this crap I just want to drive my car like a maniac.

check your plug wires. do it at night so you can see if there is a light show or not. american or import, a vacuum leak is a vacuum leak. there arent that many things that are different between the two. its still all; suck, squeeze, bang, blow. sounds like you are either arcing off or the coil isnt hanging with you. thats for the miss over 3 grand. for the nosediving needle, you can still look for vacuum leaks. get yourself a spray bottle full of water and with the engine running, spray all vacuum lines. if there is any differences in sound or the engine runs any differently, you have a leak. also, check the hose that goes to the egr valve, sometimes that is cracked and not letting the egr function correctly. since egr only works after 3 grand, id check that hose for holes.

the egr is towards the back of the enginge, about 3-4 inches to the left of t the valve cover, but a little further back. Its a 3-4in diameter dark circular cover thingy. best I can do, or go get a manual for your car.
