vacuum leak or what is it?

ok i pressurized the system and i found the leak. it was coming out of the butteryfly thing that opens the flappers on the s13 int manifold. So i think it has a hole or crack in it. Or is that supposed to leak? also does the s14 mani use that, and could i use the s14 mani on my s13? Thanks.

Here is a pic of the thing i am talking about. its the thing in the yellow square box.

air comes out of the EGR valve (red circle). mine did leaked at the same spot.

I dont have the egr or any other emissions, except the thing that opens up the flappers on the int manifold. My leak is coming out of the thing with a yellow square around it.

Mine leaks there also. I think if you remove the butterfly valve and all associated hardware we will have to weld some holes shut. I think my intake is coming off tonight so we will see.

Not going to give advice because I've never done it, but I do plan on doing the whole egr/aiv/scv removal here soon. Here's the thread I found with some helpfull info... zerothread?id=67504

i think im gonna throw on a s14 mani.

when i did the s14 swap to my girls s13 coupe, i went ahead and took off the whole erg system. its just emissions. simply take off the two plates, remove the line that goes from the erg to the header, weld up the holes on the header and egr connection and plug up or clamp shut the two or three vacuum hard lines in the back. start the motor and check for leaks in these spots. should cure your problem. also you could check for leaks around the throtlle body

i removed all emissions already except the swirl thing for the int mani.
