Vacuum/Hose caps?

I'm finishing up my swap, and I need to find out what you guys did to cap off unused fittings. I found some very small caps at advance auto that will take care of the smaller vacuum connections. My Greddy vspl has a very large fitting on the hotpipe right before the ic, i guess for the stock recirc. What do you guys recommend I use to cap that off? I'm using 200mph tape (duct tape) at the moment

I hear people using something from a dsm to cap it off. I totally forgot the name but Im hoping someone might know. I just had it banged closed since I needed it closed ASAP.

Anyone know what he's talking about or has a good solution? I don't want to just rig it with duct tape...

Why not have a buddy weld it??? That would look alot better...

It's a flange for the stock bypass valve to hook up to. I say look for a cap and just cap it shut instead of welding it shut.

That's a big freaking cap. I have my BOV welded on there so that doesn't really help. I use duct tape to cap off at least 4 or 5 vaccum lines in my car, but that is a high pressure hole. Duct tape will work for a short period of time, but then I would get it welded.

Yeah. I tried the duct tape solution, it blew off the first time I got into boost.

There are two ways to do it:1 - go to home depot, get a 1.5" (or whatever size it is) rubber pipe cap and hose clamp it in place. I did this as a temporary fix.2 - get it cut off and welded over. I finally found a shop around here that welds aluminum and they charged me $20 to do it while I waited (I drove the car there, they removed the pipe, welded, and reinstalled it)

don't worry man, i was just waiting around to see if there were any other options. I already had it off the car after you suggested welding :pface

You might have to call around a bunch, cause I know a lot of places won't weld aluminum, just because it is so much more difficult than steel (softer, lower melting point, yadayada).

I used an automotive rubber plug. It has been in there forever now. All you do is slip the rubber plug into the end of the protruding pipe, then you tighten the bolt on top of the plug and it will expand and get stuck in the pipe. Make sure you buy the right size of course. I got mine for about 3 dollars at autozone. I didn't have mine welded shut or anything because when I get rid of my HT hotpipe in place of custom piping for a top mount turbo, I will still have somewhere to place a bov.

Thanks ItzGenX, I found some of those rubber plugs at Pep Boys here (there's no autozone within 30 min)
