Hi NICO:
Hoping someone has some insight for me. A few weeks ago my car was running rough and my brake pedal felt like a rock with no power brake (very hard to brake) and I heard hissing from the engine area. A mechanic friend suggested my vacuum hose to pressurize the master brake cylinder may have a leak. He lifted the hood and it was obvious, the vacuum hose had torn completely off above the clamp to the engine. He trimmed the hose just above the cut and thankfully it was just long enough to put it back in place. He said it was dry rotted and should be replaced. It worked like new but I ordered a new hose from the dealer. Tonight I drove to friend's garage, turned off car, he disconnected the vacuum line and we hard the pressure escape. He put on the new hose with the old clamps (no hissing). Started car and the brake pedal felt like a brick again. He said in a few minutes it should feel fine. It didn't. He said to let it idle for 10 minutes to repressorize the system, I did. Still it feels like there's no power brakes. I hear no leaks. Any ideas??? This is so bizarre.
