to check for vaccum leaks take a can of throttle body cleaner and spray around the throttle body and all of the vaccum lines that you removed while the car is running when you (or if you) spray across the vaccum leak the engine should smooth out for a second or two then you will know if you have a vaccum leak.

you can do a tune up yourself but unless you know for a fact that a tune up is your problem i wouldn't mess with it. if i were you i would try to find a vaccum diagram and make sure that you have all the vaccum lines going to the right place. you can probably get one at your local dealership's parts counter.

also did you said you took the throttle body off? your vaccum leak (if you have one) is probably going to be were the throttle body bolts up to the intake. if your leak is there my next question is did you get a new gasket or did you use the old one? if you used the old one i recommend that you get a new one at the dealer and replace it.
