I heard today that most of the vacum lines on the ca don't need to be hooked up because they really don't do anything except control some emission crap. But where i am from their are no emission laws so can someone explain to me what ones to keep on or what ones to take off an what they do.

I'm running stock except for a 3" down pipe and a HKS turbo intake and a skyline gts recirculating blow off valve.

Would cappin some of these lines effect my proformance in anyway.

you really only need the ones that run to the intake/intercooler plumbing and the one that goes to the fpr. dont quote me on this though. mine only has two or three left and they pretty much all tee off the fpr line. the car seems to run alright when it does decide to run.

you can remove all of them but its not going to run ideally if everything is stock. For instance, some of those lines control your intake butterflies (the ca has those, right? dunno I'm still used to my ka). it will run with them closed or open, but ideally they would work the way they were intended to... just stuff like that.

so i can just remove all the vacuum lines? all of them? what would you tee into for your boot gauge? then would you just pich of the spots on the intake and wastegate?\any more details on this?sorry, im just scared of vacuum lines lol.

I GOT MY ENGINE IN YESTERDAY!!!!!!! my wiring harness is a piece!!!! i am worried about it lol, i need to get this out!my motor came with a cut harness on it, then i got another box with a uncutt harness, i had to take the injecotrs of the cut one and splice them into the new harness, then i realized that i had no transmission harness, and i am going to have to use the ka sohc lower harness seeing i dont have ca lol, then i am goona have to hardwire the knock senssor like rmiller, but i have an advatage on him! i actually have the clup that goses into it (it was stuck on my engine) just no the wiring, this is a nightmere but ill apreciate sooo much more when its done.

ok im finished.

vaccuum lines, the only ones you NEED (like.. your car won't run without them):fprbrake boosterwastegateand its not really a vaccuum line but you need the idle air control valve as well.the other stuff is throttle butterflies, emissions, carbon canister, pcv valve, valve cover vent, stuff like that. If you decide to remove everything else though, make sure you cap off the lines. There is a big on on the back of the intake manifold for your brake booster. under the throttle body is a small one which would be a good source for the fpr.behind the throttle body is a large one that is good for opening bov's and your boost gauge. I think there are two on the compressor housing, I just have them tee'd together going to the wastegate. and then you have the metal ones under the intake manifold that come around the engine... those are complicated but its my understanding that since none of them are actually connected to vaccuumor boost unless you hook them I think you should be able to remove all that. but do so at your peril, since I haven't verified that.

R34- you rebuilt it and it isn't trustworthy? **** that, I just dropped mine in and drove it 22 hours to texas the next day. if **** breaks then you fix it. (or just keep driving). it'll be ok.

The FPR, BOV/Recirc Valve, and the wastegate are the only Mandatory ones. They were the only ones I hooked up when I did mine the first time. There are others that work with an actuator that is controled by the computer. I'm going to hook them up this time around and see what kind of difference it makes. I really want the Butterflies hooked up and working correctly.

(mine is stock with no bov/bpv so I wasn't thinking that a bov was "necessary." Compressor surge sounds pretty cool by itself though).

Over the life of the turbo it could shorten it's life, but not by a whole lot. I drove mine with out a bov/bpv for well over 6months with out any noticable detriment to the turbo. It was in good shape when I pulled it out and I actually sold it to another member on here. He never mentioned having any problems with it and to my knowledge is still using it. They increase your lag time between shifts though....

mine has apparently been running for 88,000 km with none (stock ca) and I don't have the cash to "remedy" that situation right now. Besides, it sounds pretty cool the way it is.
