how much of an impact on emissions would removing the charcoal canister have? i'm assuming the canister is for emissions that is...

I just finished the wiring on my CA today, and have some very similar questions. I didn't get a front clip..... I have been buying pices here and there, and now I'm trying to figure out where everything goes.

This pic shows 1 fitting on the TB (this is a KA TB flipped upside down) and an air line of some sort (I guess it links up to the cold pipe somewhere????)

This pic shows the wastgate fitting, a fitting on the turbo, and some vac tubing that loops around from behind the engine (with a T-fitting)

This pic shows a fitting on the back of the intake manifold, and the same air line from the first pic

This pic shows a fitting on the rear cap of the intake manifold (L-shaped), a T-off from the FPR, and the 3 lines behind the IM (one feeds the FPR, one feeds another valve, and the 3rd feeds the line that loops around the rear of the engine as shown in my second pic)

If anyone has some pictures of how all of these lines are to be connected, please let me know. I will likely not be installing the charcoal canister (I lost it), so any of those lines will be capped.

Thanks in advance.

"iliketocrash"pic 1....ditch the lot...run a vac line from the very back of the manifold to your FPR and your butterflys.pic 2.....both for carbon canister....ditch them ( unless you have strict emmissions laws )pic 3.....comes from the turbo right?....has a T section to run to wastgate and to your FPR soleniod ( you can ditch that if you want to )

"DC2 GSR"pic 1.....yep....pipe joins into the cold pipe.pic 2......as pic 3 of "iliketocrash"pic 3.....that was for the carbon canister....most people use that fitting for a boost gauge.pic 4.......as said to "iliketocrash"....ditch the steel lines...and run a vac line from the "L" shaped fitting to a t section then to the FPR and butterfly's

sorry don't have any pics tho

I don't have too many good engine bay pictures, but I think I can help you out some:)

Picture 1:

Bottom hose (larger one) goes to your cold pipe. Its your idle air hose.Top hose I have capped off (throttle body one)

Picture 2:

connect the one from the wastegate to the one on the turbo itself. You can also tee that back to the intake manifold to the larger nipple on the side of it (right behind the throttle body) but my turbo doesn't have the nipple on the turbo itself, so I just have my wastegate attached to that large nipple on the intake manifold.

The other lines in picture 2 can be trashed.

Picture 3:

The top nipple is the larger one I have been referring to in the other pictures. Hook it to your wastegate hose.

The larger hose is your idle air hose from picture 1. Goes to your cold pipe.

Picture 4:

this one is kinda trickey, but just do it! Get rid of that bracket with 4 hard lines going through it. Its annoying, and makes it complicated. Since you're running no vaccum canister you only need to do this! Take that small nipple coming off the back of the intake manifold, tee it to both your FPR and your intake butterfly valves and call it a day:)

any more questions, feel free to ask! Welcome to the CA forums bro:D

You guys rock! :ylsuper

Let me see if I've got this straight

Once I hook up my intercooler and piping, I will hook up the idle air hose...... no problem!

I will hook the wastgate to the turbo fitting (because they're very close together - do I still need to T into the large nipple on the back of the IM?...... if not I will use that one for a boost gauge)

I will basically cap off or remove all of the other crap, and send a vac/boost feed from the back of the IM, Tee'd to both the FPR and the runner butterflies.

What about the BOV? I guess that is what the hose that runs around the back of the engine was originally for....... Is there a preference for where to tap this in from?

Thanks again guys! (Sorry to hijack your thread iliketocrash........ hopefully all of your questions have been answered as well)
