Is anybody in VA interested in a Virginia meet? Nothing solid yet, just haven't found too many people locally that actually know anything about their cars. It would be nice to get together and meet other people in VA who understand their car.

Where in VA are you, it's a big state...

If you're in the DC Metro Area, there's no shortage of 240 owners. Try the Rockville MD Starbucks/Sports Authority on a Friday night with nice weather...tons of cars.

So would any of you be interested in meeting up, as in bigger numbers not just a few of us maybe like 10-15+? We could probably do it sometime toward the summer down by the beach. I'm willing to drive to the beach. Let me know

it all depends on the day...summertime at the beach may not be a smart idea...there is a nice place in hampton where we could get together...Gosnald Hope Park....or if you want to wait until summer, we might as well meet at the richmond dragway and get some freindly racing in....we could even rent out the track if we have enough people.....but thats up to the majority

I wasn't suggesting down by the beach just in the area but I havent slept much lately and neglected to think about how summer and the beach go together. Richmond dragway wouldnt be a bad idea. How much would it take to rent the place? Could we get enough to people to do it or would it be better to just have a meet like you said in hampton at a park and maybe do a cookout do some cruisin, some highway or something of that nature.

Do you know of any upcoming events more along the lines of a swap meet? I'm tryihg to pick up a few parts and prefer face to face cash in hand transactions. I'm in Newport News and don't mind a drive.

last time i was at the richmond dragway, they told me that no one had ever offered to rent the track out. It shouldn't take much. Just rent it for 4 hours or so. Maybe 3 or 4 hundred at most. Split that between 15-20 people and it only 15-20 dollars or so...

or u can go w/ Maryland International Raceway

I know u can rent that out. I don't know the website of the top of my head, but last time I was there they have a section about renting it. I think it's a lot more expensive than the VA dragway u guys were talking about though...

Hey I treid to contact VA Motorsports park(Dinwiddie) but they're closed until Jan. 2. I beleive Richmond Dragway is the same. But I'm going to call and get prices for how much it would cost to rent the strip, for everyone thats interested. Any other ideas let me know

I got ahold of the people at Dinwidee and like I thought they're packed full from march to november(unless you wanted to do something during the week). I'm waiting for a call back from their director to see what it would cost to set something up. Are you guys really interested in this or would you rather just host a meet at "Gosnald Hope Park", or something equivalent. Or we could meet up at dinwidee or richmond dragway and just get together when they're hosting their friday night drags.

I would rather meet at the track...get to talk and race legally at the same time. If you go on friday's it could be packed and you might get 3-5 runs in...but if we rent it out, you might pay 20 instead of 15, but you would get 10 or so runs in...I have never been to dinwiddie but i am familiar with richmond (pretty laid back, family owned)

Got in touch with the guy from dinwidee and the price $200/hr to rent the track and $70/hr for the ambulance. So thats $1350 for 5 hours or $810 for 3 hours. Divided by 20 thats $67.50 and $40.50 a head. Hopefully we can get more than 20 people and drop the ticket price a bit. But I need a general head count of who is really interested and how long we want to rent the track so I can get prices. We can only race on sundays from 12-5. I don't have exact dates yet, he was on the road, so we'll get together next week. Still trying to get in touch with richmond dragway but no one seems to answer, i'll keep trying.Let me know what you think. I'm really trying to make this happen.

Chances are prices will be $35 a person thats enough for 3 hours if we can get between 20-25 people. I know its a little more than it would be on a friday night but think about it, you have 3 hours of track time to run as many times as you want. There may only 25 people there, where on a friday theres probaly 100+ and you may get 3-5 runs that night.

I'm not sure how many people from NICO are interested so I may be inviting other people I know. A good friend of mine is a member of a supra club(VA Supras) so I may invite them, though Iwas looking forward to having a mostly 240SX/ Nissan meet.

Good! Glad to see more people interested. I met with the owner/ gm of Dinwidee yesterday so I have more info for you. Turns out the prices he gave me originally were the per hour prices for testing(max. of 4 cars). He's a real nice guy, he said he'll charge us one flat rate instead of paying by the hour(much cheaper). For anyone who has ever been to dinwidee it'll be set-up like any other friday night. We're even looking into having race gas available(101oct) This is still in the planning stages so I'll post as I get info. Not to discourage anyone but the prices may be a little more expensive than stated above but please keep in mind what we're doing here. Your buying the dragstrip for the day. I wouldn't ask you to pay anything I wouldn't pay.

As of right now the event is in september, the only other sunday was in july and I wanted everyone to be able to attend. We're loooking at meeting up with some toyota's. Supra's, celica's, IS300's, etc.(30-50 people) We just need the people to keep costs down. He said we could probably have the track from 12pm- 8pm. So there shouldn't be an issue of not being able to run. We're also looking at having a cookout, hot dogs hamburgers, etc.

He's supposed to get with me next week with prices, so I'll post when I have those. Also we can't sell anything on the premisis(no tickets, food, drink, etc. more liability means we pay more to host the event) so were looking at meeting up prior to the event. He said we could all sit down in one of the conference rooms at the track and he'll sit in with us and we'll give a run down of everything that's going on, so you'll know it's legit. We'll try to collect money that night, it'll be a few weeks before the meet. If you have any more questions shoot me an email: [email protected]

I was wondering if anyone in VA or NC would be willing to organize a Club that could run at the VIR Club raceplex http://www.virclub.com/. I think Clubs can get discounted rates for rented track time. Anyone intrested?
