I am looking into MAYBE swapping in an Lt1 or an Ls1 in my S13. I have heard of this had been done... if so.. can someone post a couple of links to the thread maybe or give me some ideas on what I would run into. Will it fit under the stock hood? Will modifactions need to be done to the engine bay? Thanks... if you have any questions.. feel free to ask...

I know that it can be done in an S14... not sure about an S13 though. I mean, as long as you're not planning on having ac or anything, I dont see why not. Itd be a pain in the ***, but well worth it if done right.

P.S. don't listen to the purists. Do it!

If you're building a drag car. If not, you're in for a lot of grief and aggravation and your car will be a hick mobile that will forever be a 1/2 put together work in progress. It's kind of pointless when you can get 600HP from the Ka.

Email Darius Stewart at: [email protected] and ask for pics and prices. I haven't checked this address for a while so I hope it's good.

Go LS1, the LT1's are much heavier (Al block vs Fe block)

When you start getting 600HP out of your KA, let me know.

Look at some of the sponsored cars. Swapping a motor into a car in which it doesn't belong is not a wise thing unless you have the ability & patience to do a lot of fabrication. There are much easier rows to hoe.

Yes, that is true, but the rewards may be worth it. You can get brand new LS1's from GM, and the parts are common.

But yes, there is ALL that work. Hope you know how to weld!

Cost:performance = not worth it. You wouldnt have any traction even if the motor was stock. It would setoff the F:R weight ratio too much.

On the other hand........

It would be bada$$...I would give mad props if you were to follow through and complete it. There is a dude in Pensacola with an LS1 RX7. I am sooo jealous....

Very true, but squeezing 600 from a KA isn't a bolt on affair either. I'm all for an LS1. I've heard about them selling for about $1K so that should be some incentive to go that route.

Besides the engine bay in the 240SX can swallow a good sized motor, lets let people excersise their freedom to do so !

We need some focus here -

To build a v8 drag car from a 240 you would want to gut everything and replace the entire drive train. You would essentialy be using only the body which would need re-enforcement. Your car would look like something from monster garage and drive like it too. Yes it would be a fast POS. You can put any car body on a drag frame if you want to. I saw a Chevette on a rail frame and slicks - guy looked like a total jackass.

If you are after a muscle car, you'd be light years ahead starting with a Fox body Mustang. You can put a V8 blower motor in it with no major fabrication. Better yet, get a 80s or 90s Corvette and blow that - now your talking about a bad MF.

Bottom line, there are more practical ways of going about things. But if you must - knock your self out.

http://video.ls1tech.com/iPlay...32A06This is Aries's car. He's a mod on NICO. I wish I knew more of the details but he likes his Nissan with a V8.

I almost forgot, there is also a member from Mexico with a ford 302 in his S13 and it seems like its his daily driver as well.zerothread?id=145219

eh.. i would rather put a VK in my S13 but.. thats just me. im a purist, so sue me :-p

i like the idea but.. i would rather have a VG or RB or perhaps even a VH making 600 instead of a LS1.

Except Aries is using the LT1. Perhaps I am not mistaken, but isn't that motor an iron tank? (assuming that the caption is correct).

In the video, when you look at him revving it up, it certainly isn't as rev-happy as a 4 cylinder, with the pushrods (lots of reciprocating valvetrain mass), unless he isn't giving it full throttle. However at the end, you can't argue with the results.

Wow, this hasn't been discussed a bazillion times. Normally, I will not be negative. Particularly to a Noob, but use the f*ing search function. BLINKING RED ICON IN TOP RIGHT CORNER! Many of us are tired of talking about this.

ls1 > lt1. i would still take aries' lt1 in a heartbeat though. but the ls1 is lighter and seems to have more support.

how did 80's and early 90's vettes get brought into this. They are underpowered peices of gm junk that push like a dump truck. I am a 240 purist but i say go for it man, itll be a rocket, but like they stated before you better be able to weld. A buddy of mine has a 350 in his 92 and it wont hook at all its a deathtrap in the rain, but that makes it fun. He has had alotta problems with it though.

What about the quad cam V8 that came in some the early 90's Vettes? I heard that those had some serious power. Of course good luck finding one.

Just grab any one of them, add supercharger and drag radials and you're all set.

Seriously though - there is a local guy here in Detroit with a supercharged 454 Chevy truck. He makes 1,800 RWHP and ran a 7.70 on the street.

Good luck with the v8 240 dragster project.

Please post when you get it tubbed - this I gotta see.

^^ The LT5 from the Vette ZR-1. Very expensive (like $15,000+ for a crate motor) and very rare...

Yeah, I know that guy and it is pretty bad ***. And I dont see how it would be much different if you did the same in an S13. He doesnt have any major problems, and I dont think anyone putting it into an S13 would either.

OK, there goes that idea sailing into the abyss.
