Has anyone seen a V8 powered vert? I'm currently in the process of building one and I'll post pictures when I start putting it in. Right now the motor is getting built, so as soon as it gets done I'll share

Like the color and motor, but don't know if the side pipes will look right on a 240 I will have to wait and see.

Just do the straight pipes instead of sideskirts and it should look fine...what about clearance issues?

That's what I'm afraid of. I have see how low the car will be after the motor is installed and lowered. And I want to do the side pipes because its something unique. A v8 vert is already unique, imagine with sidepipes.

The LS1 isn't much different weight wise from the KA if you can believe that. So I wouldn't expect it to be any lower from the standpoint of having weight on the suspension. Unless you are planning to use an automatic trans... those 4l60 and 4l80's are heavy auto trans... But dropping the KA auto trans and going to an LS1 with a T56 or something like that will not hurt you one bit in the weight area.

As for clearance issues.. depends on your mounts.. if you make them custom I suppose you could keep them really low. But it shouldn't be a big deal.

Make sure you spend some time in the Hybrids forum here on NICO. It's not about gas/electric cars... It's mostly v8 240's. You'll get a ton of good info there.

Hey... take a ton of pictures and keep a good build thread as you don the install.. that would be really cool!!

Yea we are going with a automatic trans. I'm picking up some heads today and other goodies. I'll post some pictures tonight of what the car looks like now.

I can't wait to see the outcome of how this thing turns out. Kudos for wanting to do it.

Kinda giving me motivation for a 351w stroker build.

Best thing to do right off the bat: Replace ALL the rubber bushings! They are at least 15 years old by now and you'll get tremendous suspension improvements just by freshening up those worn out bushings. You can get full urethane kits for under $200 and it's money well spent.

I have nothing but good things to say about EnduraTech coilovers. That's what I run on my vert and I love them. I've heard a lot of good things about Stance coilovers too from friends that have them. For coilovers, it really depends on what you want to do with the car. If you just want to get slammed and aren't going to do a lot of driving, just get something cheap. If you're going to slam your ride though, make sure you get some adjustable rear upper control arms (I highly recommend the S14 versions) and adjustable rear toe control arms. I bought cheap stuff off ebay and just got them powder coated. They work just fine. If I had a ton of money, I'd get SPL stuff, personally.

Definitely spend some time deciding what you want out of your suspension and how much money you want to spend on it. Then go from there.

They are alright.

I would recommend Stance GR + Pros instead if you can afford it.

Also, look into digging pretty deeply into your pockets in the suspension and brakes department. Your collection should mirror something like this when you're nearly done piecing it together:

They're all right. For the money, they really aren't bad. The old ones were junk, but they're newer stuff is pretty nice. They're having a hard time recovering from their initial product debut because people are reluctant to give them a second chance.

However, for just a few hundred more dollars, you can get much better.

Johnny Butt's suspension collection would be fantastic to have if you have the cash to spend. If you don't though (which I'm assuming is the case if you're asking about K-sport), you'll need the stuff I listed as a bare minimum to correctly align everything after coilover installation.

This V8 Vert competes on the ProAm level up in Canada. It is very competitive and appears to be a wonderfully done swap.

I snapped these off pretty quickly with my phone. Sorry for the $hitty quality.

I am using Ksports and I dont like them. They are extremely difficult to adjust, especially on the vert. I dont have a lot of time right now to explain (gotta go to work) but I will soon. My bottom line advice though is spend the money and go with something nicer...you and your vert deserve it.
