I noticed new infinitis (Q70 included) have this silly 5.6 emblem on the side. For a while now i was convinced it said V8 on the side. I kinda thought it looked cool.
So i ordered some chrome metal V8 emblem and thinking about putting it on my driver side fender.
Tacky or cool? I got the option to return it, i dont want my car to look ricey with stupid emblems. i just think it would add a little touch.

It's your car. If it pleases you, that's all that matters. But you also did mention that you thought the engine size notation on the fender was silly, so I'm not sure if you like extra badges or not.
Either way, whether you slap a V8 or 5.6 emblem on a Y51 with 8 cylinders, they are both true. It's not like you slapped a sport, supersport or R spec badge.

i think the 5.6 is silly. because most people wont really know what that means. like regular folks. atleast with a v8 theres no questions. and thats exactly what i thought, it cant be too ricery if what im putting on is true right

Those V8 badges are not gaudy or cheap looking. If it's what you want, I say have a go. You can always peel them off easily if you change your mind. The 3M tape will not pull the paint off. You can use a hair dryer to heat the badge and slide a very thin fishing line under the emblem to remove it.

The only Infiniti emblems left on my M37 are on the wheels because I cant get rid of them without replacing the wheels.
