V4 engine?

Its not the space in the middle that is quench area, its the pads on the sides. The quench area in effect forces the a/f mixture towards the center of the combustion chamber, where it burns quicker, more uniformly, and more completely. Hence, making more power with less chance of detonation :) At least, this is how I understand it.

i just cant wait til vw comes out with a W4 or VR4 or some odd shaped 4 cyl. JK....

come on TMS, I would really like to learn about this. Equating a term i dont understand to a term i've never heard doesnt help me!

Crossflow-the Valves are accross from eachother in a hemi design allowing the air/fuel mixture to enter the cylinder on one side of the hemisphere and leave on the other side. if that helps at all.

this pick may help a little. its a pentroof hemi meaning it is not exactly a hemi but the same idea of crossflow.
