i don't know if all of you have noticed but city mpg on our versas get pretty darn close to the highway mileage. i don't have exact numbers but now since the gas is 2.66 gallon here maybe i can top it off and check, but i noticed while i commute every morning the darn needle never moves. has this been discussed if not then maybe some of you can share compare the numbers. out.

Yeah, mine is like that. My fuel economy has lately been about 25 to 26 mpg average (95% city). Just took in on a road trip doing no more than the 70 MPH speed limit and it only got 27 mpg. Disappointing, to say the least.

I've never been able to crack 30 mpg in it, no matter what. Nissan Service says there's nothing wrong with it, either.

Already did. They ran full diags and everything was within factory specs.

The only thing left to do is let them run a fuel economy test, which means they top of the tank, run it down to empty, and measure the results... all at my expense. I'd do it, but I have a bad feeling that, even if they find similar results as what I report, all I will be told is that's it's within the 2008 EPA fuel consumption range for the Versa. That range (in the fine print of every vehicle's window sticker) is as low as 22MPG in the city and higher than 40MPG on the highway. So, I'm screwed.

I bought the Versa primarily for it's low fuel consumption, but now I'm stuck with a tiny little car that barely gets the fuel economy of newer generation larger/roomier V6 powered cars touting at least 50% more power and torque.

[edit]Here's the mileage we tracked for the last 2 fillups when we took a road trip. I'll be reporting these findings to the shop:

95% City, Pre-TripOdometer at fill: 7,271Trip Meter: 141Gallons: 5.32MPG: 26.50

95+% Highway, during tripOdometer at fill: 7,542Trip Meter: 271Gallons: 10.32MPG: 26.26

Yep, we got ever so slightly WORSE fuel economy on the highway (sticking to the posted speed limit of 70MPH or less).

well i guess you are indeed getting narrow city hwy mpg results but in the worse way. on the average i am getting 28-30 mpg combined city hwy but i mostly drive in town and these cars are sippers in town. i am pretty sure a v6 doesnt get 28 mpg in the city. if you find one let me know.

Seems you completely misunderstood what I was conveying....

My Versa is only getting 25-26 MPG average, no matter what the percentage split of city or highway driving is. There are plenty of V6 equipped cars out there that will pull that or more on the highway, easily.

I don't have a clue what you guys are doing. I NEVER get below 27 MPG!

I kept my ride 55 MPH - 42.78 MPG - August 25th, 2007. I consistantly break 40 MPG on the highway. Now, when I say highway - I mean I fill up on the highway and keep it below 60 MPH on the highway and I break 40 MPG everytime. When I drive city/hwy - I never get below 27 MPH. Granted, I don't have a CVT (I have a 4 speed automatic). I guess I'm darn lucky!

i live 4 miles from work with no stoplights......lucky me..........and i betcha i dont even use a pint to get to work. probably a little over a pint. that's pretty good. that means i am spending about 50 cents to go one way. these cars get 26-28 mpg in town that's phenomenal. try that with a v6.

When i got 28 with all highway millage i was happy... I generally get 21 sometimes 23 with a mix of highway city driving..
