I have an '86 2 wheel drive pickup produced in May of '86. It is a single cab, shortbed with a 5 speed, however it is equipped with the 3.0 liter V-6. I was wondering if anyone knew how many of these trucks actually came with this engine in this configuration. Everyone I ask says the motor was a 4wd option only. I know its the original engine seeing that i remember when my neighbor bought the truck new. Is this a rare option, or just a factory screw up in my favor. Oh, yeah, its a blast to drive.

Thanks for any help.

I believe its considered the HD model (heavy duty) not many were produced as they were used for buisnesses. Alot of them had flat beds and dual rear wheels installed.

Weren't most of those long beds though? I've only ever seen one regular cab 2wd V6 shortbed...

most of them didnt have beds when they were built. The frame on it was designed to recieve either bed. the long bed had a short frame extension welded on as i remember.
