Hi boys,

well, I was looking on a build thread, and I saw a picture of the block, I was very surprised about this:

I'm talking about these things around cylinders,what's the purpose ?

What are you referencing to? The tops of the sleeves? My SR22 block looks similar to that with my Darton 2 step sleeves. If indeed you are referring to the massive wide upper 'step' of the sleeve, it's to give the sleeve more surface area to anchor onto to prevent the sleeve from sinking under the pressure of the head and combustion process. The inside diameter of the cylinder may seem straight through but the outer diameter is more like a stepped cone. Most sleeves will at least have the upper step (single step) that you can see from the top of the block. All the extra steps or cooling channels (if it's a wet type sleeve) will be under the first step and can't be seen once installed.

I was talking about what has been done around water holes,not sleeves themselves ;)
