USPS unveils new mail truck of tomorrow
USPS has chosen Oshkosh Defense to replace its mail-delivery trucks. The elderly Grumman LLVs, in service since at least 1994, will be replaced by trucks with airbags and A/C. The design is yet to be finalized, but some will be electric. The new vehicles will include both battery-electric vehicles and those with low-emission internal-combustion engines. They are expected to be delivering mail by 2023.

That is punk-ugly. Think I'd sooner drive a duck-billed platypus. :chuckle:

Can't they just get RHD Jeeps instead or a Nissan NV200 RHD? I see a USPS Wrangler in my area all the time.

This does remind me of the Fiat Multipla.

I enjoy pointing out the fact that this is an Oshkosh product. Oshkosh is probably best known for making the twin-steer HETS military transport tractor:

Front and rear steer axles. Insanely heavy duty. 8x8. Just a monster.

It looks like it was hit with an ugly stick and then said "thank you sir, may I have another."

Before the bespoke vans the Post Office did use RHD Jeeps, Could have made money selling them to Japanese drivers.

To say that this van is ugly is being way too kind! It's a lot worse than just plain ugly.

Yes, but unless you mean an erector set, "ugh" is optional.

Insufficient space. USPS delivers a lot more packages and a lot less 'envelope mail' these days.

You do actually want your mail to arrive, don't you?

Could be worse. If they used RHD Jaguars you'd have to get your mail off the fire truck.

USPS is not the same as in the past. They made many changes in their company, so I don't think that it improved the company's service quality. I am not using their services anymore since I had some problems with them. Their customer service is vulgar to their customers. I usually buy things from China, so I found a Chinese company to deliver my parcel. Their services are on a higher level. They use China Post tracking, so you also have a tracking code for your parcels to check the parcel's status.

Besides which, if he was referring to GlobalPost, they're no more reliable or prompt than USPS. I know first hand, I ship stuff all over the world. Only paying the FedEx, UPS or DHL piper will guarantee anything, but shelling out $70+ to ship a $20 item is something most customers simply won't do. For budget service you're basically screwed, they all suck.
