Using the flip-down screen - in today's world

Our QX4 has the VCR in the back, with the back-seat flip-down screen. Has anyone figured a way to use the screen w/an iphone or ipad...something a little more modern than a VHS cassette?

Just curious. Some of you seem pretty creative.

I would imagine there is a product out on amazon that you could use to splice in a connection somehow, but don't really know of one myself. I'm sure one of these guys can help out though.

My vhs had RCA type input jacks - if yours has the same you just need an A/V cable for your device that has RCA connectors. When my vhs died, I added A/V input jacks onto the cable that went to it to allow devices to use the video.

In today's world, tablets have much better displays as well as a 16x9 aspect ratio. The best backseat theater experience might be to use a tablet instead of the drop down screen and run the tablet audio into your AUX input.

Agreed on the tablet... The flip down monitor was cool in 2001, but kind of obsolete now, especially when paired to a VHS (or even a DVD).

Mine was built with the VHS, and I can remember buying it used and thinking, even in 2001, who the hell was still using VHS???

I just couldnt ever see the flip down screen having a benefit, other than maybe for a baby/toddler who cant work a tablet/phone.

Thanks for the thoughts. I did notice the inputs on the front of the VCR. I tried it out the other day - it works, surprisingly.

sroberts, we had that same sailboat for years. It was a great one.
