Hi there, I'm planning on buying a set of four speedbleeders for my brakes, and wondering if they can be used on the clutch as well. I havn't yet, but plan to remove my damper box at the same time.

Does anyone know the size of the bleed screw on the operating cylinder(ie thread size/pitch). Anyone actually used one of these here?

I gather that bleeding the clutch is much easier w/out the damper, but I figured if I was gonna order some speedbleeders, what's $7 more?

Thanks!-Jamie

::edit:: this is for a 91 M/T FYI ::edit::

get a new slave cylinder and put the speed bleeder in it. slave cylinder is only $15 from autozone or where ever, and they go bad easily anyway.

Is there a factory bleed screw in the slave? I thought the damper and control were the only two places... or would I have to drill/tap a port? I'm guessing the slave is the ideal place to bleed, since it's the highest point?

no no no. the slave is the part on the transmission. i think the part you are calling the control.

you are thinking of the clutch master cylinder. thats the one on the firewall.

oh my bad... I assumed the 'slave' was right beside the master, under the clutch fluid resovoir. Doesn't look like they have the same size bleeder as the brakes... I'll email speedbleeder and see: maybe they know what size it is.

Thanks,-Jamie

heh, just noticed that advanced auto has a pair of bleed screws w/built in check valves for $10.75/pair... I'll have to pull that bleeder off the slave and just see if it fits into the brakes...

the aftermarket ones usually have a bigger bleeder then oem. which i actually like cause it makes it that much easier to find a wrench that fits. and i believe they are the same size as the brakes.

Slave bleed screw on S13 is 8mm...caliper bleed screws are 10mm.

I know because I just broke mine off in the slave cylinder yesterday. Word of advice; soak that sucker in WD-40 before you start twisting, it'll break pretty darn easy if it's stuck.

I'm getting a new slave cylinder through Midway's parts special, $35, and clutch speedbleeder and SS line from SPL, $27. Figure since I've got the damper removed already, might as well put the SS line in.

or you can go to autozone and get one for $15, and it has a 10mm bleeder.

I ordered both the slave cyl. speedbleeder and a SS clutch line from SPL Parts. Just go to their website and look for the clutch line, I think the bleeder valve is right under it.

cheers,
