I went to the used tire shop today and they put on some tires on the front axle that looked aggressive. Looked like they would grip well. Turns out theyre snow tires, and Im in Louisiana, it snowed maybe 5 years ago. Was wondering how well these tires will grip on normal pavement and how long theyll last.

Snows tires are an extremely soft compound, and they make your car feel like your'e on bubblegum. Your car will wiggle at 35mph. I don't think it would be that great for drifting, unless you were planning on snow-drifting.

..why are you buying used tires?

I mean, seriously....you can get some cheap Kumho tires or something for next to nothing and at leant know they wont have impact damamge, patches, etc..and full tread life...

If you want to get used tires...at elast inspect them and ensure the DOT is less than 5 years old, and make sure they match the tires on each axle.-Chet
