02 maxima 3.5 using a quart of oil every 2000 miles!! no smoke out the exhaust. Where is it going? Heard rumors of the cat coming apart and going back up into the engine. Has anyone heard of this problem?

Awww... the dreaded oil consumption problem! It is very widely own that the early VQ35's have inherant flaw that causes this problem.

Nissan just 'fixed' the problem by replacing ppl's engines. But the actual cause seems to be that the piston rings don't seat properly. Looks like you're in for a rebuild with updated piston rings, buddy. Sorry.
