I have a 94 J30 but I am lacking the keyless entry remote.

I have noticed that ebay has many different remotes for sell, but none for my specific year & model.

Can I use a remote from a different model? What about a Nissian? Does the year matter?

I haven't been able to find any good information about this...

Call Joe at infinitipartsusa.com and get the FCC ID for your car's remote. Then compare it to the others for sale.

Typically, the J30 uses the same remote as other Infiniti's from 94 to 96 (I think).

i think the fcc number has to match. check your owners manual, they might have something in there.

I took AZhitman's advice and was able to confirm what pimpingurz said. The FCC ID for my car is A269ZUA073.

I found a website that sells them for $60, but I'm going to scour ebay first.

FYI - I can't verify this, but I saw a website that claims '93-'96 Q45s, '93-'96 J30s, and '93-96 G20s all use the same key fobs

Be careful of those web sites. I almost bought a "compatible" remote. The picture was the original, but when I read the fine print, it was an aftermarket remote, that didn't look anything like the original.

I found several on eBay, and waited, until I got one for $36. It has worked fine, for several months. Just keep searching for the FCC code in eBay motors, it will make it go faster. If the seller dosen't post the FCC code in his bid title, or description, I would be nervous about buying from him.

Be sure to add your eBay ID to the sticky at the top of the Infiniti General Forum. This will help us not try to out-bid you, when you find the one you want. We all want a great deal, and don't want to cost the others extra money.

Good Luck!
