In general, I don't do auto repairs/maintenance - instead, I just take the car to a local shop and let them change fluids, etc. However, the last time I did that a guy comes out after an oil change and says the oil changer "noticed some moisture near the transmission fluid cooler" - words that turned out to be totally bogus (not to mention sufficiently ambiguous that the shop could say them without culpability). I left with a very bad feeling about that shop.
So I decided to thenceforward do oil changes, etc myself for our two cars from now on.
Anyway...I have RhinoRamps, chocks, as well as a couple jack stands and was wondering how I could use the jack stands as backup to the ramps in case of (unlikely) ramp failure. The RhinoRamps are NOT short - they're so long, as a matter of fact, that they extend from the (front) tires to WELL behind the side jack points on the 2006 Quest.
So where is a good place to set the jack stands to provide the emergency ramp-collapse protection? Is there, for example, a front axle (or equivalent) location where they can be placed that would be alongside the inside part of the ramps? [a key need of the jack stand placement, of course, is to avoid interference with the access to the oil/transmission/whatever drain plugs, etc]
Thanks for any response.
