I looked all over the other forums on NICO but my search did not yield any results, so sorry if this doesn't belong here.

Is there a way to allow programming of the altima coupe GPS while driving? I know that I would not be able to change the destination and such while I was driving, but I know that if my girlfriend or someone is in the car with me, they can certianly do it, but the system locks you out...

Does anyone know if you can get rid of the lock? I know some other company's GPS systems allow this...

take it to a car stereo store. they can wire it so the GPS thinks the parking brake is on. i have this done to my aftermarket system. its illegal to do because of safety issues but it can be done on almost any system.

personally i've never seen it on a factory model system. there is not "programming function" to turn it off. it HAS to be hardwired.

it can be done, just not like the aftermarket units.. in aftermarket units, you just ground the light green wire that's supposed to go to the parking brake.

in the factory unit, you have to atatch a switch, and toggle the switch to a particular wire... search the "other" forum, there's information on it there!

I also heard about some problems that arise when people hard-wire their factory NAV units to be used while driving, such as laggy response/seek time when moving. Like sometimes when you're turning along the road, the GPS will display your car as going straight for a few seconds, then it'd pick up the correct signal again. If I know I have to go somewhere new I usually just enter the address ahead of time and save it, then recall it before I depart, and I think the NAV lets you recall and start the route guidance while driving on saved POIs/Addresses.

Yes, but you only get to see the first page of your saved address book or previous destinations
