Has any one used this? It looks like some type of non-metal gasket you put between the intake manifold and head to reduce heat soaking. I suppose it's supposed to help cool the incoming air. Additionally, would this be a beneficial item to use for a KA-T project?

FYI: Just saw this on eBay for a KA24DE Altima.

usually you want shorter runners on a turbocharged car so I'll be the first to offer my two cents, I think it would not be beneficial.

how thick is it because if its thinner it *might* be ok but I kinda doubt it would be worth the $$ unless its cheap, and eventualy I belive that It to would become heat soaked

waste of money in my opinion.

its not really needed, especially if it might cause damage.

The theory works. There's a company called hondata that pioneered these things. They've got some great feedback, and they most definitely work for certain hondas.

However, one reason why they work on hondas is because they block the coolant ports that flow to the throttle body. This heats up the manifold tremendously, and takes away potential power. If you don't live in freezing weather, you don't need the throttle body warmers anyway.

We can't block the coolant ports on 240's because it's a pretty major artery in the ka motor. Blocking it would block coolant flow from the radiator.

Last year I tried to make a gasket like that. I gave up on that project though.

My advice to you is to find out what material they're using. If it has good heat properties, then it might be a good buy.. but a PITA to install .

Do you still have your Research and Development (R&D) notes? I'd like to see what you have done based on how far you've gone.

Update: Looks like someone has made one. Gonna get it an test it myself.

hondata uses a solid poly nylon material...its white...and has threads of nylon it it...its basically a super hard plastic but it can withstand heat....when i was into hondas i used that material for solid motor mounts...vibrated the **** out of the car but the ladies loved it...
