Hi Folks, Quick question: I have 8AWG run to the rear for a 200W amp. This amp drives a set of components up front. I'm installing a walbro pump within a week and was thinking about using that 8AWG to supply the pump(and using the existing pump wiring to trigger a relay). What HP level is the typical reduced output an issue(due to losses in stock wiring)?

Obviously I would seperately fuse each one. Anyways, I'm wondering how serious these two issues may be:1)current draw spikes from the amp: would this be enough to drop the pump output long enough to matter? This is no insane sound system so I haven't added any bulk capacitance.2)I'm betting that pump is going to introduce some whine into the amp

I'm not so much worried with #2, because I think I could circumvent it with some simple passive filtering(cap/filter, probably in a band reject configuration).

Your thoughts?

Cheers,Jamie

'Wouldn't think it would matter, but it's an upcoming KA24DE-T

Well fuel pumps drop off their flow with less current. But on most like walbro's, z32 and supra fuel pumps, the drop off in flow is negligible until you're running some serious power, which is why I asked which engine the fuel pump will be supplying. It's good to look over the details, but sometimes, it won't make too much of a difference.

Fair enough: I think I'll just keep them seperate for simplicities sake. With my mediocre HP goals I suppose the walbro shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for the response!

if you're that paranoid about the loss, just run a new circuit for the fuel pump, otherwise just use the stock wiring. i mean, unless you're adding multiple pumps or inline pumps, then it should not be a big enough deal

Agreed: I gather that this is more of a problem on the S14s for one reason or another.
