I have a 2003 M-45 (basically one of the last M-45's to roll off for the model year of 2003) and I wanted to get an auxiliary input setup.

Going into a sound shop today, I found a deal on a CL441DSP Cleansweep that will allow me to connect upto 3 additional auxiliary inputs as well as cleanup and boost my standard system. Nothing in the stock setup will be damaged or removed but my sound signal will, supposedly, be cleaner and crisper and the speakers will be able to reproduce a wider range per the specs and reviews.

Does anyone have any experience with this device?

Dont know why you want the aux inputs or if you need three....but if you are like me and trying to hook in your ipod...use the tape adapter. 1) its 20 bucks 2) i hide the wire under center console (immediately out of tape deck) and up into cup holder. WOrk and sounds great!

The Cleansweep is traditionally used when adding aftermarket amps and speakers to a Bose or other 'high end' factory system. It is meant to take signal from the headunit or stock amplifier and send it to an aftermarket amp and on to aftermarket speakers. You can do multiple searches on the forum here and find a ton of info on adding speakers, cd/dvd players, and all sorts of aux devices to the system.

If you have a bose amp in the back, you don't need a cleansweep. All the eq is made in the amp, not on the head unit.

Check these postings:

A JL audio representative (with more than 1500 posts to date) stepped into the discussion and argued "against" the need of a cleansweep IF you have a bose amp in the trunk (the car in question was a G35).

Granted, in your case, you'd still need the aux input (but the 441dsp has only one aux input, it's the Cleansween CL-SES that has 3 aux inputs (but since the M does not have an aux input in the HU, this is useless without the 441 dsp. Now to use the 441dsp for the aux input only is an expensive proposition. Maybe a $90.00 PAC audio solution fits better your needs.

my .02 cents.

What do you mean by a PAC audio solution? The reason I ask is because I've looked and looked and have not been able to find a model that'll just plug into my car's stock HU

Here is the PAC-Audio solution:

http://www.pac-audio.com/instructions/AAI-NIS2.pdf

found here: http://www.pac-audio.com/produ...Input (scroll down the page and look for the AAI-NIS2

I'm not saying this is the best solution. I myself am still considering other options, since I also want to tap into the nav screen. Hope this helps.

I checked that site out well before going in and finding out about the Cleansweep.

Unfortunately I didn't see any PAC products that would work with my head unit

Also, are you suggesting that by using a PAC product, I will not be able to use my nav?

Indeed, it does not say it's compatible with your car (2003). But maybe you can drop them a line and ask what differences could there be? Or you can try research this:

http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/M/2003/av.pdf

and see if you can adapt the instructions I linked above to your particular car?

And finally, no, I'm not suggesting the PAC solution would hinder the navigation capabilities. It's just that it is not a complete solution that I want. I want to be able to link my PC to the NAv screen thorough the VGA out connection, not composite, and for that I'd have to use another adapter. The PAC audio could work with it, but then I'd have to press Two buttons to switch both video and audio, so that is not ideal.

I'll give them a shout and see what's up

Thanks.
