anyway, excuse my ignorance but are spark plugs those things that stop the car from hesitating when your accelerating???? if not, what will prevent or minimize hesitation in the 1999 q45t

Before someone flames your for not searching...;) the factory NGK's are the bar none best for your car.

replace every 60k, or u will lose power, increase consumption etc.

The can cause all sorts of symptoms, hesitation being among them, but otehr items can cause hesitation as well.

Best to post a detailed desription of your symptom in Infinti Online Mechanic section.

Fred...:)

Spark plugs light the the gas air mixture to create an explosion that drives the piston down the cylinder which turns the crankshaft which turns the drive shaft and makes your car go. No spark, no go.

That is a true newbie question that should go into the "Newbie Question Hall of Fame".

Like I said in my last post on a different thread, I don't mind helping newbies.

but these plugs are ehard to go for as low as 10 bucks. thats strange to me as i would expect something that sounds that important to cost more

Good point.

Replacing 8 of them isn't cheap - $80 plus installation is more representative of their true importance.

p.s. Nice job Mike.

Nissan does extensive testing with a particualr brand and model of advanced spark plugs. They are just sparking devices, that is true, but they must meet heavy design criteria. There are thousands of explosions per minute going on in your engine. Extremely high pressures and temperatures. Don't fool with the small cost of something that will last 60-100k. OEM only!

Truest, welcome to the site. I recommend that you do a google on intenal combustion (IC) engines to get an over view of the basic priciples. Don't even think about talking tires until you have done some research.

this is a very odd thread....

plugs are cheap due to simple production (double platinum and weird designs can get up there though) and a mass need for them and they don't really last that long in comparison to a lot of parts. Mass production helps:)

Anybody ever says NICO isn't "noob-safe", I'm gonna show them this thread. Then poke 'em in the eye. :)

That should go into the newbie hall of fame.... Along with some of my questions!! :D

Use NGK... And these plugs ARE more expensive than most... The old school plugs are about $2 each, these are more like $10 each.... That seems pretty expensive to me..... BUt they are a VERY important, as the engine wouldnt run too good without them...

I suppose if you wanted to you could advance your timing to TDC and run diesel..... :D :D Q45 diesel!! HAHAHA

Just so you know, I replaced my plugs at 120k, the original ones (with 120k on them)... I noticed no difference before and after, maybe a tiny bit smoother but nothing to speak of.....
