Is there anyway I can trace back a used drivers seat to the original vehicle it came from. There wouldn't happen to be a VIN stamped or printed on it.. serial number or something?

Edit..
Yes I've tried asking the junk yard it came from but they've been very evasive and said they couldn't tell me due to the "privacy act" I'd have to ask the shop that installed it. The shop was even more evasive about answering any of my questions regarding the seat and wants to call me back when they find my file on Monday.

No, the seats don't have a VIN tag on them.

Thanks, after a lot of calls to the body shop they finally gave me a copy of the invoice. From that I was able to get the VIN. What's really odd is the seat they put in my car came from a 2009 1.6 base with just over 9,000 on it before it died.. it was only 6 months old. The but is the seat looked terrible for it's age, was very flat and felt worn. I suppose the previous owner was just rough on the car. Ah well it was worth an attempt to try and have the insurance company replace it with a new seat.
