There was a very active member on the boards who had a G35 and traded it for a RWD IS250. I know you're looking at the IS350, but you might try emailing him as he has direct experience with both cars.austinsG wrote:my price range is $30k usd so bmw's are out...
I think I narrowed it down to the G37 and IS350.
i know this is an infiniti forum but what are your honest opinions and am i leaving any cars out?
btw how do you like your 7 sp automatics? I know they rev match downshift, but how about the IS350? do they rev match as well?
You replied to me...I assume this was in response to the OP?jmcohen23 wrote:also, why would you want AWD? the car only goes AWD under 11 MPH. so unless you get a lot of snow or got some mountains to ascend, AWD is not a necessity.
Mercedes (some good dealing going on right now), BMW 3 series (including the high performing D), BMW 5 series (if used), and you may want to look at the new 2010 Buick (which sounds odd for younger people but this Buick is not your fathers either).austinsG wrote:Hey guys second post here. I'm really looking hard at the G37 but I was thinking about other options that I might have.
The car has to be sedan or estate RWD maaaybe AWDUnfortunately it has to be an automatic because of my fiance low mileage if used like under 10,000 miles
here are my choices
RWDG37 G8 GT (really iffy on this one because of the resale and what not)Genesis V6 or V8IS350am I forgetting any other cars?

I disagree. There was a member who found a G37 for 6k off new with under 5k miles. Search around for a slightly used Infiniti.jmcohen23 wrote:
although I am a big fan of buying only used cars, finding a used G37 with under 10k miles will only save you about $2k on the purchase price compared to a new one.
I tend to not agree about the 'G' being the best, although on paper it looks like it is. I would go with a beemer 3 series (D or G) or with a series 5, 6, or 7. If used there are some real bargins on some high performance Mercedes including some very late model AMGs.Graflo wrote:I think we all agree the G is the best.... Unbiased opinion of course. But my last car was a Volvo S60 AWD. It was slow as hell but it was a very good car that I put 50K on without any major service... Bought it with 50K so it was the "trouble miles" for my past cars.
The AWD was the seller for me I lived on the side of a mountain in a town that didn't plow anything less than a foot of snow. The thing was a tank but it just didn't have the pep. You can find used ones really cheap and they are loaded with luxury car options.
The new Acura TL is nice and fast, the interior is sweet and they have the AWD. The only thing is you will have to buy an aftermarket grill unless you enjoy driving around a shovel. That thing is fugly... But they look good with some of the aftermarket grills I have seen.
actually, Beamers are one of the best when it comes to holding their value for resale. infinitis typically sell for less on resale, that is why they remain so competitive with BMW.austinsG wrote:guys I found out that BMW have s***ty resale so I'm seriously thinking about getting a certified 335i for $27k with under 20k miles!
good idea or bad?
Except for maybe the AWD part, I have been looking at the XF(and R), especially after getting a good look at one in person.docboy wrote:Search for one of my prior threads about the IS. Screw the IS250 AWD, HUGE financial mistake. I have an 09 IS250 AWD I'm trying to dump. Awful bump in the middle console driver's area is so darn uncomfortable; causes pain and numbness to my right leg, hip, and foot. Can't drive for more than 3 min before pain starts.
I'm looking at the G37x, TL-AWD, and Audi A4 for my replacement, but am still undecided. The 335xi is also one to consider, but I'm not sure of the turbo's reliability.
All with its own merits; it'll be a tough choice IMHO. Good luck!
