Nothing paypal could do if it craps out. Just make sure he shows you the receipts for the rebuild before you buy it. Rebuilds are usually $350 so if you think about it you are getting a GT2871R for like $50. And even if you have to rebuild it yourself you'll be getting a brand new GT2871R for $750.

You can put it on but don't fool with the boost. If you don't have a boost controller you need to either A) Find out what the wastegate is set at or B) buy a boost controller and keep the boost LOW.

I would be careful if i were you. Basically you really are not rebuilding a GT2871R due to the fact its a BB turbo. they replace the center section, which does not cost no 400 dollars a ball bearing center section will cost you around $1000-1200 unless you have a homie hook up. Next you need to ask this guy who is refurbing the turbo.

something about this does not sound right because a 2871r goes brand new for like 1200 maybe a little less dependijng on were you get it from. a used one will go for 900 give or take. so i would be very careful with this buyer on ebay. Only reason why i am telling you this is casue i had a 2871r, and i blew mine up due to oil starvation got it refurbed (thank you warrenty from PTE) and sold it for 700 plus a set of cams.

+1 to what Jubee said. BB turbos do not get rebuilt. They get replaced.

wasnt there a rash of tiawan made turbos for sale on ebay recently? I remember seeing a picture of a compressor housing cracked in half.

I would love to grab a $400 gt2871, but I wouldnt buy it unless it was off a friend, and knew he wasnt out to jack me. The old adage still applies, "if it seems too good to be true, it probably is" If it blows, you'll be kicking yourself later.

edit: Paypal won't help you. You are lucky if paypal will do something for you only if the seller doesnt ship you the part! Thats after waiting for 90 days, and getting your credit card to back charge them. There is no way they will refund your money if you're just not happy, or the turbo is crappy quality. That being said, the seller sounds shady:|

damn someone beat me to it... cant rebuild BB turbos... you have to replace the center section which costs just as much as a brand new turbo.

BS flag is waving

At least your engine bay looks as messy as mine

But on a more serious note, that centre bearing section doesn't look even slightly new...

K, car is gone for 3 days getting **** done. Total engine bay clean up, rewire, new gauges(dont buy ebay!), header, 3" all the way. Gonna stick with the stock turbo for now. My buddy has the turbo and is checking everything, but so far its not good. I'll be starting a claim soon. i'll repost news and new pics

That turbo looks a lot like a Stock SR T25...

Additionally I apologize for the misinformation given earlier. I've known of many many turbos rebuilt none of which were BB. It wasn't my place to speak on something I hadn't experienced first hand.

Yea that certainly looks like a Garrett T25 off of an S13 SR20DET.

But what do I know, I only have one sitting in front of me on my desk right now.

schanne you need to file a dispute with paypal immediately. They will be able to cover you if you were sold a product you didn't receive.

You are missing the point. That isn't a GT2871R...

A blown T25 is only worth $50 - and only if the shaft play is not too bad.

File a Paypal dispute ASAP.
