I use only Mobil 1 synthetic 5w-30 and mobil 1 M1-110 filters. Yes I used the QC correctly with the engine at operating temperature, added the QC, idled for 15 mins, and immediately drained and replaced the filter. I did this because the previous owner didn't even have an air filter in the car when I bought it with 5x,xxx miles.maxnix wrote:Wouldn't hurt. Did you use it corectly? What kind of oil?
I read while using QC, "Q45Tech: If the varnish is in suspension in the oil it's molecules will go right thru the filter media." So I think it is not about being trapped in the filter, its about being trapped in the oil. If given a chance to re-deposit, the varnish will clog the filter, but not until it cools.Q451990 wrote:Q45Tech's recommendation for quick clean has always been to use half a can with fresh oil/filter - then change the oil and filter, and use the other half can... then a final third oil change. The concern is flushing too aggressively and loosening up more than can be trapped in the filter.

No air filter will cause sandblasting of metal in combustion chamber{piston tops, rings, cylinder walls, valves} creating irreversable accelerated wear of these parts... The use of a good oil/filter such as what you use will clean and remove the debris naturally through the oil composition, excellent filtering, and regular oil/filter changes, which I am sure you have been doing. I dont think there was anything more the BG quik clean could remove that your frequent oil/filter changes already took care of.LongBeachQ45 wrote: I use only Mobil 1 synthetic 5w-30 and mobil 1 M1-110 filters. Virtually all engines will form sludge in the oil pan, if not varnish on the interior. Just a question of time, OCI, oil, and operating conditions.qship96 wrote:I wouldnt have used that product to start with....no need to flush the crankcase EVER if you follow regular oil changes
Damn that's scarey.LongBeachQ45 wrote:....the previous owner didn't even have an air filter in the car when I bought it with 5x,xxx miles.
I've been getting regular oil changes since I bought the car. No idea what the PO did. My service records show a gap from 18k in 1998 to 83k in 2007. I've been babying it since I got it. Would getting some QC be playing it safe?qship96 wrote:I wouldnt have used that product to start with....no need to flush the crankcase EVER if you follow regular oil changes
How could I forget?qship96 wrote:Playing it safe would be TO CHANGE THOSE GUIDES!!!! Just a friendly reminder !!!!!
