Hey guys, I'm new here and have a question I hope some may be able to help me with. My car was recently stolen and I'm in the market for a new one. I came across an immaculate G35 Sport sedan 2007 with 78k miles. It's a 6 speed and I think I'm in love. I can get it for 17k out the door. What do you all think? My main concern is that, while I can afford payments and insurance I'm wondering how well these vehicles hold up (everything I've read suggests very well) what the cost most of you have had to maintain similar vehicles, that sort of thing. Any insight would be great.

I also looked at a 05 coupe that is extremely clean too. Similar miles for about 1500 less. I've read these can burn up oil but other than that haven't seen much negative feed back. Thanks again in advance!

Welcome to NICO!
The G is a great car with an engine that has a reputation for excellent reliability. At 78,000 miles that car has likely seen an easy life and is just getting started. Its highly unlikely that you'll see any major repairs or maintenance aside from a clutch (which may or may not happen, depends on the PO's driving habits and yours). Oil consumption is easy enough to keep in check, and by '07 the issue was corrected min-production. However, before you buy, you may want to take the VIN to a Nissan or Infiniti dealer and see if they have any records for the car- maintenance, oil changes, recalls, engine replacement, etc.

If I were in your shoes, I'd go out of my way to inform myself about the cars history and if it can't be confirmed, leave it alone and walk away if you're still worried. You can always get an '08 for a few grand more and some piece of mind.

Additionally, here is the TSB for the G35 oil consumption issue and process.

Great info! Thanks for the reply. I checked the vin, sadly it was made before the cutoff vin you mentioned. The car is at an Infiniti dealer and it IMMACULATE. The oil thing doesn't bother me too much, I just know it's something I'll need to look out for. The clutch feels great too. I just hope that when the time comes its not ridiculously expensive to replace. I swapped the clutch in my Acura a few months back with the help of my friend for half the cost (with performance parts  ) Hopefully I'll have a G by the end of the day! :woot:

Nice, welcome to NICO. We have a '07 G35 sport sedan as well. It's just turned 100k.
