That comment alone would have made me run away from that car as fast as I could.Zoomzoomz wrote: the dealer expressed that it was sold as is.
Used cars off warrenty are ALL sold AS IS and most come with a written statement to that fact.Tim30250 wrote:That comment alone would have made me run away from that car as fast as I could.
Has anyone "cleaned" the throttle bodies? If you cleaned the throttle bodies you could come up with this error.Zoomzoomz wrote: Went back and picked it up a few days later and bam, when initially accelerating, the car stutters and dies on feathering of the throttle. Ummm with all dear respect..GET YOUR CAR OUTTA THERE..if ur serious, i have a great guy, an armanien friend of mine, in arcadia, CA. ill hook u up with his number and even meet u down there to talk to him..He'll charge you less then the dealer, and probably be able to figure out the problem in a day or so....He's workin on my cousins 2008 335I, Cars soo messed up the BMW dealer wouldnt TOUCH it .Zoomzoomz wrote: Hello all, just joining the forum after spending hours reading up on this car and then going out to buy one. I purchased Journey with Premium 82k miles from a used car dealer $15,800, test drove perfectly. Went back and picked it up a few days later and bam, when initially accelerating, the car stutters and dies on feathering of the throttle. So I have it at the Nissan dealer suspecting faulty MAF or fuel filter... $120 to diagnose. They call me a few hours later and tell me its not the MAF or fuel filter and they still don't know what the problem is but that it will cost $240 now to diagnose. The car is still in pieces, I'm in a crappy sentra rental. The dealer swears the car was perfect when he sold it. Can anyone shed some light on the reason for the stalling? MUCH APPRECIATED!
I hope this experience is just a hiccup and that I can start enjoying this car!
Oh, BTW I used to own a 2006 Mazdaspeed 6 and 2007 Mazdaspeed 3!

It's the same motor as in the '07-08 350z so I don't see why a Nissan shop could not figure out the issue. Granted, when dropping it off at Nissan you don't get an Infiniti loaner and you usually have to pay for the rental.DRO@G37 wrote:Ummm with all dear respect..GET YOUR CAR OUTTA THERE..
TRUE DAT! Nice motor, hopefully that isnt the problem. From the sounds of it, car spuddering, rough acc, sounds like maybe a fuel pump, infection problem. WISH U THE BEST OF LUCK..! "be careful, as is = problem"audtatious wrote:

I had a similar problem about 10 years ago with my 88 Mazda 929.I brought it to an independent shop for a timing belt and new tensioners at 196k milesThey didn't replace all the timing belt tensioners that they charged me for an used an aftermarket belt that kept jumping time. Finally they refused to fix it and I had to take it to the Mazda dealer to get it correctly repaired.Fortunately I had paid the independent shop with a credit card and was able to have a charge back issued against them for their shoddy workmanship.Zoomzoomz wrote:So I'm back in the Mazdaspeed 3. The dealer had me drop the car off at an Infiniti dealer for a second opinion after hearing from the nissan dealer that the problem was the timing chain- cost $4,500 to fix. The inifiniti dealer came back with the same diagnosis and a cost of $5,000. So the dealer gave me the option of reversing the transaction minus $750 for repairs he made on my trade- in. So thus ends my brief experience with the g35. Good luck to you all, thanks for the feedback. Hope I am back here with a new g35 soon.
I agree 100%.shokhead wrote:Nothing wrong with buying used as long as you do your homework and be smart about it.
WOW you can pick up a junk yard motor with a few 1000 mile on it for around $2 grand!Zoomzoomz wrote: The dealer had me drop the car off at an Infiniti dealer for a second opinion after hearing from the nissan dealer that the problem was the timing chain- cost $4,500 to fix.
