Hey everyone I need some help. I am seriously considering getting this car and here's the VIN: JNKCV51E65M211806 . I did a Carfax on it and it was formerly a rental car with Hertz. Personally I don't have a problem with a rental, especially an Infiniti, since they were very expensive to rent and I figure they probably aren't abused like a cheaper-to-rent car might be. Also rental companies, especially the major firms, take better care of their cars than the average consumer.

This car has 25,000 miles and I can get it for $23,000. It has Sirius installed and is basically the stock model with an auto trans and sunroof. I have test driven it 2x now and the first time I noticed the alignment was off to the right. I told the salesman and they said they would get that fixed. Well I went back yesterday and the alignment is now perfect. The only little problem is that there are a couple of dark scuff marks on the rear bumper, nothing that would be a deal breaker though. Otherwise the body is in great shape and the car drives great. Here's a link to the dealer's website http://www.ncautoauction.com . It's a local dealer and they are members of the BBB so that gives me some peace of mind that they aren't out to screw over the consumer.

I also plan on getting it inspected this week, the only problem is that I don't know any mechanics so I was planning on using the auto inspection service provided by Carfax. Any opinions on this?

I was wondering what your opinions are of this car and also I was hoping that someone out here might be able to do additional searches on my VIN to see what else they could find out. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your help !

OK well I just did an Autocheck report on this car and it says it has frame damage. Ok guess this deal was too good to be true. Time to find another car.

Wrecked by one of those non-abusive renters you were talking about I am sure.

Keep looking, you will find one. Mine is an '05 and loaded, Dimaond Garphite w/ black leather, Nav, aero, sport, sirius, Motorola bluetooth, you can buy it now for $38K? Just a thought

Yeah J..time to go a different route now. I'm am going to try and see what type of a lease deal I can get on the base model w/6m and a sunroof. The only other feature I want is Sirius but you have to buy an expensive option package! I thought satellite radio was pre-wired? Can't the dealer then just install Sirius as a stand alone option? What kind of a lease deal do you think I can get for 3yrs/45miles, zero down and using a one-time lease payment? Thanks!

I avoid leasing cars like the plague. Keep looking for a used G. That seems like the best deal.

I don't recommend every leasing a car. Any way you look at it you are throwing money away.

People say "But I can get a more expensive car for a cheaper payment", which is true but makes absolutely no sense logically or financially. Leases are simply BAD!

I would look for an '03 and just try to buy one. I mean I don't know your budget but you should probably be able to get one for between 20 and 26 grand (probably the higher end of that quote).

My solid advice as a banker is never try to stretch yourself into an automobile. If you can't afford it don't try to stretch your hard earned dollars into a hunk of metal that loses money with every mile you put on it.

And yes the coupe is holding its value very well but my previous statement still runs true. Try to buy it outright if you can.

If you are dead set on leasing then I would have no idea what your payment would be. I will say that a friend of mine bought his the same time I did, both 2005 coupes identical goodies except mine is diamond graphite/ black leather his is white/ tan leather. Both stickered for $40,100. I got mine for $30K (I send a lot of business to the dealer. I think he paid $37M.

I put down $15K and financed $15K for two years. My payment is $651 a month.

He leased his put nothing down and traded in a 1995 maxima that he generously got $2,300 for, rolled in the TT&L (or covered it with the trade, however you want to look at it). He did a 5 year lease w/ 12K in annual mileage and his payment is just short of mine at $609 monthly.

Now he pays that monthly payment for five years. I pay my monthly payment for the next eight months and mine is paid for. Not exactly the same situation but my point is he didn't benefit that much from leasing. I advised him against it but he didn't listen so to each his own I guess.

I don't know if my rambling helped any but again try to buy do not lease if you can avoid it. You will be better off in the long run.

Sorry, I forgot to answer your question about the satellite radio. If you want to save money on this then just add the aftermarket kind that you can mount in the car.

Mine is pre-wired or the head unit is set up for it anyway in that I think they just add the FM Modulator and you can work all of the satellite controld through the stock head unit. That is how mine works anyway and I have Sirius.

The '05 loaner that I'm driving now is the base model I'm sure... no power steering wheel tilt, no homelink mirror, no memory seats, no Bose... but it has the Sirrius in there... I think you just have to add a module and antenna.

I once read something standing around in Wal-Mart waiting for my wife to look for something... It said that a used rental car is like a used motel mattress in the furniture world!

Gotta tell you... I wouldn't even buy a G that was used as a loaner car... maybe one step up... bed and breakfast used mattress?
