Hey Guys,

I blew up my SOHC last night, I am swapping a new one in tomorrow along with a new trans and clutch disk. I have a bottle of Motul 5.1 brake fluid, can I use this for the clutch fluid?

I searched everyone says use DOT 3, but I use DOT 5.1 brake fluid in my car, so can I use the Motul 5.1 as the clutch fluid aswell?

Let me know.

Thanks

I called PDM Racing,, they told me sure why not...

So yes, you can use 5.1 brake fluid for clutch fluid.

Thanks

Dot 5 Has a Higher Boiling Point. Normally used on Race Cars.

You can use it but make sure you get all the Dot 3 out b/c they are not conpatible. GL

dot 5.0 is not compatible with all others...dot 3.0 dot 4.0 and dot 5.1 are thou......you can actually mix them but you will not get the binifits of using the dot 5.1..id drain it all..and then bleed out any of the old crap before using it..good luck.

That's right on the money. DOT 5.0 was silicone based and all others are glycol based. I usually get a big bottle and do a thorough flush when changing brake/clutch fluid. Anyhow, using the DOT 5.1 is fine and it will mix with any residual fluid left in the system so you're good to go.
