Welcome to Nico!
In my experience (and I may be wrong, hopefully if so someone corrects me) the only concerns with ECU are manual vs AT trans- the AT ECU can work with MT but not vice versa for auto shifting reasons, small idle control differences for AT and climate control, and different use of the speed sensor for AT purposes.
To my knowledge there are no differences for Japanese cars as despite the opposite driving setup and wiring harness, the components the ECU controls are the same so USDM should be fine.
Anyone else with specific knowledge please chime in!
