Hi, I recently purchased a used 2011 M37 base model. Side question -- Got it for 34k with 14k miles, good deal?

Anyways, I'm having issues with the USB port. When I plug in a 4 gig USB flash drive (Brand - Memodrive) with mp3 music on it..it works just fine, I put hundreds of songs, and everything works beautifully.

I purchased a 32G Sandisk and put in the EXACT same music files and it won't read.

I went to Best Buy and literally tried 6 different USB flash drives, 32g, 16g, 8g, (all different brands) etc.....no luck. I'm wondering if the car has a 4 gig USB limit.

After reading these forums, I don't see that there is a USB software update.. (I might be wrong)

I took it to the service department a couple times and they don't really seem to know whats going on either. They say this is the first time this issue has come up, but something tells me their lying.

Any help?

Check the format of the disk. Usually things aside from computers can only read a FAT formatted disk and everything you put in might be NTFS formatted. Just put it in the computer, go to properties, format, and choose NTFS. Hopefully that fixes it.

I have an older model M with the compact flash drive and it is able to read an 8 gb i think it was on Fat format as well, so may want to look into that

It is possible that the firmware is unable to read a large flash drive like that, although it seems unlikely. Probably it is a formatting issue. I have noticed a few flash drives come formatted exFAT as stock, but I would be the M can only read FAT32. The NTFS format is proprietary to Windows. Although other operating systems can usually read NTFS, it is usually only computers that are able to and some OS's are only able to read and not write to it.

The weird thing is that the 4 gig usb that does work (flawlessly) is formatted in FAT32. So I automatically assume that FAT32 would be the correct formatting.

It is in the service department at the Infiniti Dealership as we speak. They said that they don't know what the problem is. Am I cursed with a retarded car? Help!
